Hannah's Garden ...

Well, its certainly been a while since I've stopped by here...

Life has been overflowing with little Hannah, as you can imagine.
Can you believe it? She has turned 1 already!

Her daily discoveries and new found skills put such a smile on my face. Watching her joy when doing something for the first time is wonderful. This week's favourite passtimes are singing, talking (in very longwinded, amusing combinations of syllables), chasing me from one room to the next and throwing things to see what noise they make when they hit the timber floor.

Stitching for me has been intermittent over the past year, but little by little I've created a new quilt.

I began designing in January and finished sewing around Hannah's first birthday. As I've watched my little one grow, my quilt has grown too.
This design will always remind me of our first year together, so it was only fitting that I name the quilt for Hannah.

In January, I received a beautiful bundle of "Wildflower Wood" fabric from Lynette Anderson. I've always been a blue and white girl and the muted tones that Lynette's fabrics offer suit me to a T. I have really loved working with them.

This is the first "Row by Row" project I have created. I think the rows bring a lovely simplicity to the design, in the "busy-ness" of the stitchery and applique.

This year I’ve discovered... birds in the treetops,
dancing butterflies, bees in the blossom,
dragonflies at the lilypond, budding magnolias,
anemone patchwork blocks, leaf-cross patchwork blocks and more.

Hannah's Garden combines simple embroidery stitches, needleturn applique and a little patchwork.

Five rows also feature semi-detached applique, created with double-sided fabric shapes attached with stitchery. These flowers and leaves sit up a little from the background, adding dimension to the design.

HG Dimension 1

Hannah's Garden has been designed as a wall-hanging, with a finished size of 31" x 49" (78.7 x 124.5cm).

It will be a 7 part pattern available as a block of the month or as a full set. Patterns will be finalised and ready for publishing in the 2nd week of December. Some stores have already ordered and are awaiting delivery, so I'll let you know who and where as soon as the patterns are ready.

A limited number of kits in the orginal fabrics (as pictured above) are also availabale from The Patchwork Teahouse for mid December delivery.

Wholesale enquiries and orders can be placed with Helen or Lori at Pattern Press.

I hope you enjoy creating Hannah’s Garden as much as I have,
