Thank you all so much for entering my New Year's/Thankful giveaway. You have been so kind with your lovely comments... it is just as well winners are drawn randomly, as I just would not be able to choose between you. There were 65 entries in all, and I truly wish I had 65 sets of patterns to give.
Alas, I could only choose 2 winners. This afternoon with the help of random.org comments 3 and 14 were the lucky numbers of the day. A big congratulations to both winners, who have each won a full set of "Thankful" patterns! I will be emailing you both shortly.
Comment number 3 was from Julie C., who said...

Hi Melissa, thank you for the opportunity to be in the draw to win this beautiful package. I have been following your blog for quite some time and agree this quilt is just so beautiful. Good Luck to all that enter. (((HUGS))) Roz
Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter, and for following the creation of "Thankful" over the past months.
Today, I thought I would share my "Thankful" cushion with you. "Thankful ~ Block 1" includes a 16 page Needleturn and Dimensional Technique Booklet as well as full instructions to create a 12" cushion using the block. I've chosen a more "country look" for my cushion... with soft whites and beige with what I think of as a "murky red".
I used a small check for my roses this time, adding a little more "country" to the block.
I've enjoyed seeing the design in a different combination of fabrics. I've been dreaming of roses in white, yellow and soft-mauve too!
There have been quite a few emails over the past weeks regarding where "Thankful" can be purchased from...So, I've put together a "Thankful Stockist Page". You can find the link to the "Thankful" stockists just below the photo albums on the left side of the blog...
The link looks like this...
or click here ---> Thankful Stockist List if you would like to visit the page straight away. There is quite a list already. You will find stores providing "Thankful" as a Block of the Month program with or without fabric kits, as full sets of 6 patterns
and "Thankful ~ Block 1" for individual sale.
I'm in planning mode this week! 2012 is going to be filled with new One Day In May adventures.
I look foward to sharing them with you.
Happy New Year!
After a few weeks away for a little relaxation and recuperation, it's time to get back into the swing of routine and to begin planning the year ahead.
A new year feels a little like a clean slate don't you think? Without getting too deep and meaningful about it, I find myself reflecting on and challenging all manner of attitudes, life choices and priorities. We love a resolution or two don't we? I think my resolution for 2012 is "organisation for the sake of relaxation". Wouldn't it be lovely for everything to have it's place? How wonderful if work schedules and the madness of family life all fitted so efficiently into the day, that there was an abundance of time for "time out". Already, I can see my dreams of "fitting it all in" are doomed... but dream I will, for just a week or two longer.
Well, as promised One Day In May is celebrating the new year with a giveaway!
"Thankful", my new 6 part Block of the Month, has begun to arrive in stores, which is a great feeling. It has been a wonderful exploration of technique for me, and I hope it will be for you too.
With “faux doilies”, ric-rac roses, small fabric roses, embroidered appliqué, reverse appliqué, gathered panels, lace-covered panels, and a dimensional bow, “Thankful” has been such fun to create.
"Block 1" includes a comprehensive technique booklet filled with step by step, photographic instructions. The booklet also includes a full guide to needleturn applique, for those who haven't tried it before.
Blocks 1, 3 and 5 each measure 10 1/2" square (including seam allowances) and may be used to make a 12" cushion, edged with binding. The instructions for the cushion are also found in "Block 1". I've made my cushion with more of a "country flavour" (pictured on the bottom right of the pattern cover).
There is a new photo album for "Thankful" in the left sidebar (or click here), where you'll find a full quilt photo and lots of closeups of each block and dimensional features.
Over the weekend (after much googling and lots of trial and error),
I created this little "Thankful" button for you to add to the sidebar of your blog or website. The button will link directly to the "Thankful" photo album. To add this button to your blog, highlight and copy the html code from the box below and paste it into the "embed your own html" section of your blog content page. You can easily customise the size of the button to suit your blog or site by altering the width part (width="150") of the code. It is currently set at 150 px.
